High Speed Photography (HSP) is the science of taking pictures of very fast phenomena. In 1948, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) defined high-speed photography as any set of photographs captured by a camera capable of 128 frames per second or greater and of at least three consecutive frames.

In common usage, high speed photography may refer to either or both of the following meanings. The first is that the photograph itself may be taken in a way as to appear to freeze the motion, especially to reduce motion blur. The second is that a series of photographs may be taken at a high sampling frequency or frame rate.

The first requires a sensor with good sensitivity and either a very good shuttering system or a very fast light. The second requires some means of capturing successive frames, either with a mechanical device or by moving data off electronic sensors very quickly.

Things to remember while clicking images in zoo:

What is the distance? This is very important point to remember while clicking any image. Is the distance too long that you cannot get the right shot of the subject you are shooting? The distance between you and your subject should be in a respective position.

Lighting: You can have adequate amount of natural lighting to add light to the pictures. But look out for foliage, which acts as obstacle for natural lighting. Have your own artificial lighting setups if natural lighting is not supporting.

Fencing and cages: Zoo is full of fences and animals are stored in cages. These can be obstacles for natural photo of the animal. Make sure that the fences are not shown if you are shooting for a natural look.

Normally the sky after the sunset will be in reddish orange color and the trees and landscapes turns into dark silhouettes. This is a variety in shooting the silhouettes in different background. Twilight photography is clicking images after the sunsets and the night photography is clicking images after the dark expands over the sky.

If you want to click the beautiful colors in the sky, then wait for the sun to set and click the images with different colors in the sky. Even after the sunsets, the lighting is not completely ruled out with the dark. The dark conquers the sky slowly and in this process the sky shows different colors.

Show The Subject In Different Angle With Macro Or Close-Ups!

Macro photography always shows the subject from a different angle or a totally new view. Macro photography is often dealt as creative and dramatic photography.

Observing the subject from a closer view is different subject in photography. By moving closer to the subject, you can see different dimensions in the colors and subject which are not visible from the normal eye.

The size of the subject in the normal portrait photographs is half of the actual size in the ratio of 1:2 and in the photographs clicked from a fair distance; the ratio would be 1:4.

But the size of the image clicked in the macro photography will carry a ratio of 1:1, i.e. the photos often reveal the original size. The lens in the camera plays an important role in the magnification process.

Macro photography directs you as photographer into wide spread of subjects and objects to click. Subjects used in photography are endless; they vary from a precious diamond ring to a backyard garden flowers or insets.
